Conditioned Unconsciousness Is Feeding Cancer: Dr. Steve Bedi’s Wake-Up Call to Modern Society”

Dr. Baba Steve Bedi, an author and wellness advocate, draws a powerful connection between conditioned unconsciousness and the rise of cancer in modern society. He argues that external influences—ranging from advertising, societal pressures, and political systems to unhealthy food and lifestyle choices—have deeply scarred our minds and bodies, leading to chronic stress and cellular malfunction.

“We are auto-intoxicating ourselves with poor food habits, excessive salt, sugar, and oil—all of which create free radicals that damage our 53 trillion body cells,” Dr. Bedi writes. “Cancer is not just a physical disease; it is a manifestation of internal spiritual imbalance caused by ego, greed, and insatiable desires.”

According to Bedi, each cell in the human body is like a living soul—pure, intentioned, and functioning in the present moment. “Cells don’t live in the past or future. They exist in spiritual harmony unless disrupted by external stressors and materialistic conditioning.”

He invokes spiritual principles like Shreya (the higher good) and Preya (instant gratification) to explain how lifestyle choices rooted in temporary pleasure ultimately result in misery and disease. “Cancer is a product of Preya,” Bedi says, “while Shreya, with its foundations in purity, contentment, and awareness, can protect us.”

Referencing Mahatma Gandhi, who lived a life of simplicity and spiritual discipline, Bedi notes that Gandhi’s fasting and yogic lifestyle demonstrate the kind of balance that modern society lacks. “Gandhi never sought gratification in the material world. His life was about inner purity, non-violence, and respect for natural law—values that can prevent or reverse diseases like cancer,” Bedi concludes.
