Modern society suffers from a silent, deep-rooted illness—conditioned unconsciousness. This state of living without inner awareness causes damage at the cellular level, eventually manifesting as chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and mental disorders. When we live against nature and ignore our inner selves, the body and spirit begin to decay.
Ironically, those responsible for healing—doctors, lawyers, leaders—are often just as unconscious. They operate in a system driven by ego, material gain, and disconnection from higher values. This widespread unconsciousness leads to systemic corruption, deception, and societal breakdown.
Gandhi said, “Knowledge without character is a sin.” Real knowledge is not technical expertise, but deep inner awareness. When intelligence is not rooted in integrity, it becomes dangerous. This is how educated, powerful people commit white-collar crimes and manipulate systems for personal gain. Without character, knowledge only increases the capacity for corruption.
Lasting peace and health come from reconnecting to the non-material, divine space within—a state of spiritual clarity, supported by the body’s own chemistry (serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin). This space is where Gandhi lived—beyond ego, aligned with nature, and grounded in discipline.
To illustrate, I share the story of Ram Chander, a wealthy New Delhi attorney. Though respected and successful, Ram was deeply corrupted—earning millions by bribing judges and defending criminals. He lived lavishly but suffered from obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and angina. Despite a loving family, he began an affair with a young paralegal. His lifestyle worsened, and so did his health.
During a trip with his mistress to Goa, after heavy eating, drinking, and sex, Ram had a panic-induced heart attack and died. His death was not sudden—it was the natural result of years of unconscious, ego-driven living. Chronic stress, unhealthy habits, and a disconnected soul led to total system failure.
Conditioned unconsciousness floods the body with stress hormones, damaging immunity, heart health, reproduction, and mental clarity. Over time, this results in illness, aging, and emotional emptiness. Ram, like many, killed himself slowly—through the lifestyle he chose.
The lesson is clear: the body is sacred and must be cared for with awareness. Real success lies not in money or status but in living with truth, self-discipline, and consciousness. Gandhi’s idea of being “self-ruled” means awakening to your inner guidance, not being led by external conditioning.
At this stage of my life, I’ve come to understand that ego and material desires once led me astray. But through inner awareness, simplicity, and self-care, I’ve regained health and clarity. This path is available to all of us—if we choose to wake up.
