When Ego Blinds Love: A Doctor’s Regret and the Harsh Justice of Karma

In 1984, Dr. Baba Steve Bedi was at the peak of his career — expanding his medical practice, growing in reputation, and driven by ambition. At the same time, his father, an optimistic and spiritually driven man, was undergoing treatment for a heart condition. He often said he would live beyond 100 years — full of faith, strength, and life.

But while the family urged unity and sensitivity, Dr. Bedi chose expansion over emotion. Driven by ego and worldly desire, he distanced himself from the very family that once stood behind him — unknowingly stepping away from love, responsibility, and his father’s final phase of life.

Years later, he realised that karma had quietly recorded that moment.

“If I had not been blinded by greed,” he reflects, “my father might have lived the long life he believed in.”
Karma, as he now understands, is not about punishment — but awareness. It doesn’t attack — it reflects. It doesn’t wait for the future — it begins the very second our intention turns impure.

He admits he once believed he was a loving husband — until careless moments of anger proved otherwise. One day, he returned home and shouted at his pregnant wife while she was resting. In that moment, both their bodies experienced a surge of stress — and even the unborn child felt the shock. Years later, he would notice traces of that same anger in his son — a painful reminder that karma is hereditary, emotional, and deeply biological.

“The law of karma is silent but scientific. The moment we act in ego or anger, the damage begins — not just spiritually, but even chemically, inside the body.”

Today, Dr. Bedi speaks not as a doctor — but as a witness to karmic reality.
A man who once walked with pride now teaches that true power lies not in achievement — but in awareness of intention.
